Our Master Estheticians perform manual DERMAPLANING (microplaning or blading) using a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently shave the top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum, dead skin layer, and vellus hair, aka peach fuzz.
The continuous exposure of the top layer of skin to UV rays, environmental toxins, and irritants means that skin may appear to dull. This treatment results in ultra-smooth, fresh, and brighter skin. By removing that dead layer and hair from the face, the skin tone is evened out, and speeds cell metabolism, which helps new skin come to the surface.
Prior to the procedure, the skin will be cleansed with ZO Skin Health Gentle Cleanser or alpha/beta hydroxy acids to help loosen dead skin cells. During the procedure, our master estheticians will use a sterile, one time use, 10-guage scalpel that will be held at a 45 degree angle. The skin will then be pulled tight and the blade is used in short motions against the grain of the hair on the skin.
